Hey everyone.
What a conundrum. Tonight we are saying goodbye to a co-worker who no one really cares for. Yet, we have to have a "going away" dinner for this fella. Hum, what a perplexing situation for us. Not that this dude is a mass-murderer (to the best of our knowledge he isn't) or anything like that, but he is such a huge pain in the a** to work with. If he could sit in the cafeteria for eight hours a night and do absolutely jack squat, he most definitely would. This guy can talk your ears off and not even realize that you have him on mute, but his mouth just continues to move...blah, blah, blah. He says that he has big plans for his retirement, but we all know that he is just going to sit on his front porch and yell at the kids walking by..."get the hell off of my yard"! Or sit around and talk about his glory years back in Pittsburgh...heavens knows we've heard all about them.
Now, please don't get me wrong. I am not trying to dog the man because he has the personality of a sack of peat moss, but this is one guy who, if anyone ever could, fit the statement "it's the bed he made, now he has to lie in it". We basically had to drag a sign-up sheet out for others to list what they might bring in and yet the party (that is a term that I will use very loosely) is tonight and we still have people that will not participate in the gathering. I have had my run-ins with him in the past and yes, I have said that I would never work with him again because he's a big freak'n jerk-off, but he has spent his time here and deserves a modest send off at the least and yes, I did bring in something to share with everyone.
So, what's the problem? How do you merrily send off someone that tends to just piss everyone off on a daily basis? Should we schedule the real party for next weekend and if so, how do we explain it to his one or two acquaintances (one of those has a multiple personality disorder so we could say that there is more) that we're all so very happy to see him gone that we have to have another carry in dinner to celebrate? What happens if he decides that the retired life just isn't what it is cracked up to be and wants to come back to work here? What to do, what to do...
Four more weeks until I go on vacation and get my baby girls....whoot!!! I can hardly wait!!!
In the mean time though...it's so long to meat head!
Everyone have a super-de-duper day!
