Hey all...
Once again...it is so crazy how we can do one thing and from that action we can have a flashback to something that happened years ago. Something so simple, yet it transponds our memory to a point oh so long ago, but we remember the details as if it had happened just yesterday. A vision...a smell...a thought...a feeling...so on and so on. Funny how that happens, such fleeting thoughts from days gone by pulled back into your concious thought of today.
Well, just this week I had to opprotunity to do a little critter and kid sitting and during our activities that evening we were able to rent the movie "Winn Dixie". Now we all know that there are certain titles, names, stores, etc. that are recognized by their geographic origin. "Vons", "Schnucks", "Winn Dixie" and many others trace their names across country, but tend to stay within a certain region. One such store name that is found throughout the south is known as "Piggly Wiggly". Now, recalling that I had just finished watching this movie about a dog named "Winn Dixie", I could not help but have one of the before mentioned flashbacks. Silly how that happened.
Years ago I spent a little time in the wonderful state of North Carolina. Of the five plus years that I spent there, each of the communities that I lived in had at least one of these "Piggly Wiggly's" for the citizens to shop at. Anyway, one of my co-workers at the time had a "hobby" that he liked to occasionally partake in on the weekends. His idea of going out and having a good time during these weekends was to go to one of the 'shady' areas of town and try to pick up women who you would think might have a difficult time being hit on. Coyote ugly, one bagger, two bagger...which ever term you wish to use here would probably be fitting. So, as the end of the work week would be approaching someone would always seem to ask him what his plans were for the weekend. Upon hearing this question he would promptly produce a paper "Piggly Wiggly" bag from his desk and place it over his head. Gazing through the open eye holes and speaking through the oral cut out he would answer...
"I'm going pig hunting".
I don't know where he is these days, but where ever you are at I hope you're having a super day!
